Tamilnadu Board of Secondary Education, established in 1908, is a board of school education in Tamilnadu state, India, and is a part of the state government’s department of education. It conducts two board examinations: one for class 10 and the other for class 12, which is a school leaving examination. It also prescribes the syllabi for these examinations, whose scores are used by a number of colleges to determine admission.
The jurisdiction of the Board extends to high schools located in the state of Tamilnadu. Schools located in the state of Tamilnadu can choose affiliation to Tamilnadu Board of Secondary Education, or certain other bodies (like CBSE or ICSE) authorized to conduct high school final examinations and award certificates to successful candidates.
